Building with Log or Timber components IS ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY .

All the log or Timbers used in our projects are harvested from areas of Standing Dead Douglas Fir. These trees have been killed by beetle infestations and the harvesting permits are given out in an effort to control the spread of the Fir Beetle. These Fir Beetles get under the bark and kill the trees without going into the wood, so the wood is still perfectly good. Even better, its dried 2-5 years before its cut down, so the end product is much better.

All the buildings or timber components we supply will last at least as long as it takes to grow another mature tree (80 to 120 years). There are many examples of Log and Timber buildings that are 600 years or older. All it takes is a good foundation under them, and a good roof over them.

The harvesting plots that our logs come from are all re-planted to current Government standards.

Within just a few years, there is young, new, vigorous growth . As these new trees grow, they absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and release oxygen, all the while, consuming zero energy to produce this new building component.

All the alternatives (concrete, steel, glass, plastics), consume huge amounts of energy in their production as well as emitting large amounts of carbon dioxide during their production.

Log or Timber components are a natural building material with none of the off-gassing associated with many of the new 'synthetic" building materials.
